Arppa is an upcomig indie artist signed by Universal Music Finland. Since the beginning of 2021 I have been doing letter design and graphics for Arppa.
My first assignment with Arppa was to design lettering for a series of three videos shared on Instagram and Youtube. After that I have worked on graphics for social media, single covers and the vinyl.
Arppa has some vintage feeling to him, and I wanted the lettering to express that feeling to enhance the visuals and to make them complete. I desided to keep a handmade feeling to the lettering, that went well with the style of filming. I really enjoyed designing these graphics and I didn't have to struggle much with the ideas.
I also designed a logo for Arppa. With the logo I wanted to do something playful, so I came up with this design, where the letters are not uniform. I really liked the almost illustrated feeling to this lettering. To me it looks like R is sitting on the first A's lap. Also this described the whole band well.
I wanted the logo to have some handmade feeling to it, since Arppa is somewhat a DIY artist himself. He enjoys recording casettes and playing gigs in parks, so I wanted the logo to describe the way Arppa is.

Together with Andre Pozusis and Irene Suosalo we designed and produced two trailers in 2021 for Arppas two singles Laila and Väistä. Artwork was made by Aaron Siiranen, and I was again in charge of lettering.
Throught the project I wanted to play with the lettering and we ended up using different styles for each trailer.
And here's some scetches that never saw the daylight
